Does Whisper Desk work completely offline?
Yes. Once installed, Whisper Desk never needs an internet connection. The Whisper AI model runs entirely on your local hardware. No audio data is ever sent to any server.
What hardware do I need?
Windows 10 or 11 with any modern CPU. For GPU acceleration (recommended), an NVIDIA GPU with at least 4GB VRAM (GTX 1060 or newer). Without a GPU, transcription works on CPU but is slower.
How accurate is the transcription?
Using the Large-v3 model, Whisper achieves approximately 94% accuracy on general English speech. With vocabulary profiles enabled, accuracy for domain-specific terms (code, medical, legal) improves significantly.
What's the difference between the free trial and the paid license?
The 30-day free trial includes all features with no limitations. After the trial, transcription is limited to 30 seconds per day. A $29.99 lifetime license — purchasable from within the app — removes all restrictions permanently.
Can I use it for coding and technical dictation?
Yes. Whisper Desk includes vocabulary profiles specifically designed for programming. Variable names, function calls, and technical terms are preserved in their correct format.
Does it work with my existing apps?
